Well...Here We Are

I have resisted blogging, mostly because I don't know that the adventures of our families or our path as we move forward with respite, foster care, or adoption is all that interesting to anyone but us, but here I am. Maybe our daily inspirations and trials will be humorous to you, or in some how a reassurance that you aren't the only ones going through these crazy trials. Maybe I will discover I am an horrificially boring writer and I am talking to myself. Either way, be blessed in your day.
We are a family of various backgrounds: white, Hispanic, black, Texan... Come on, if you are from here, you know what I mean! I'm not attempting to be politically incorrect, or disrespectful. I hate labels, of all kinds, and didn't want to disrespect. My children's first/birth families use black rather than African-American, and so that is what I have chosen to use as well. I know some don't agree with me, but know that was chosen with input from the people who blessed me with my kiddos. My friend, R, for example, truly does have African-American children. Her babies were adopted from the continent of Africa. I have gotten off track, which is no surprise to those of you who know me! Anyway, our family has been blessed with kiddos from foster care, from private adoptions, of all shapes, sizes, ages, and colors. The Daddy in our family chose us all after I had divorced and relocated to Texas from Florida. He is born and bred Texan and has a faith that blesses me on a daily basis. We are Christian, and attend a United Methodist church with the most down to earth and honest pastor I have met in many years.
We are a former foster family in Florida. We have just been approved to do respite care in the state of Texas; that is very short term foster care for kids who already have placements but need another safe place to be for a weekend or other short period of time. We aren't feeling led to do long term foster care these days, but are open to adopting again if the right child or children come along. More on that as days pass...

Welcome to our crazy lives!
